Better Burmese Health Care
(BBHC) provides high quality healthcare to very poor families around the
slums of Yangon.

Current funding priorities include core running costs and the expansion
of existing services.
The average cost to run one clinic, which includes medicines, staff salaries,
clinic rental, utilities, lab tests, office supplies and travel allowance,
is US$ 4,500 per year. The cost of the mobile clinic is $500 per month.

Contact us about supporting BBHC
BBHC works with local
Burmese doctors to support 4 clinics in Yangon's slums, and 1 mobile clinic
for extremely poor families who lack access to primary healthcare facilities.
Last year BBHC supported over 12,000 patients in clinics, and over 9,000
patients in their mobile clinic.
Basic, low-cost medical treatment for common conditions such as diarrhoea,
respiratory illnesses, gynaecological problems and malnutrition is provided
at the clinics. BBHC also trains and supports the local doctors who run
the clinics, thereby ensuring that a high standard of care is maintained.
Our assessment:
- BBHC is responding to the lack of investment in healthcare in Myanmar,
and empowering local doctors by improving their skills and medical education.
- 800 patients are effectively treated by BBHC each month in their 4 clinics,
and a further 400 are treated monthly at the mobile clinic.
- The cost of services provided by BBHC is extremely low, and yet what
they achieve is huge.
