Contact us about supporting Ibtada

Ibtada reaches over 1,000 women and their families through financial self-help groups, livelihood development projects and adult literacy projects. They have succeeded in implementing biogas as a cooking fuel, built latrines that have dramatically improved the health and sanitation of the community, and pushed to provide education for girls who traditionally do not attend school.

Our assessment:

  • Ibtada is successfully challenging the inequality faced by women in this area, enabling them to implement concrete changes in their lives such as replacing traditional huts with mortar houses that withstand the Monsoon.
  • They are locally run and work in an extremely under-developed area of India. Compared to similar rural initiatives, they stand out as energetic and proactive.
  • Ibtada has been recognised as effective by the Indian and international business community and has grown by 65% in the last year.
