Jaipur Foot provides free artificial
limbs to people throughout India, as well as other equipment to those born
with a physical handicap.

Funding is sought for general purposes with a specific request for support
with prosthetic limbs. £50 for example, pays for 2 artificial limbs.

Contact us about supporting Jaipur Foot
Since it was founded in 1975, Jaipur Foot has provided tailor-made artificial
limbs free of charge to over 1 million people. Each year the charity provides
17,000 artificial limbs at its centres in Mumbai and Jaipur, through its
16 branches and through approximately 50 mobile clinics where limbs are
cast and fitted in situ. Jaipur Foot also provides callipers, crutches and
hand-paddled tricycles where these are required. It targets those unable
to afford the prosthetic limbs and other equipment that enable them to lead
a fulfilled life.
Our assessment:
- Because of Jaipur Foot, beneficiaries are able to walk out of the centre
and into a different life within hours of being fitted with a limb. Each
limb costs £25 and involves no paperwork.
- Jaipur Foot provides comfortable and lightweight prosthetic limbs, using
locally sourced drainpipe material and hand-made rubber feet designed
especially by a sculptor in Jaipur. This is in sharp contrast to other
cheap prosthetic limbs.
- Without the support of organisations such as Jaipur Foot, there is no
help for the estimated 10 million Indians suffering from locomotive disability.
