Contact us about supporting LEAD

LEAD was formed in the UK in May 2008 by a group of Myanmar nationals to provide emergency relief to victims of Cyclone Nargis. To date, LEAD have helped more than 45,000 people.

While relief and recovery efforts are ongoing, LEAD's is presently expanding its focus, implementing projects such as building schools and repairing embankments for the longer-term benefit of victims of the cyclone,

Our assessment:

  • Because LEAD is run by a national of Myanmar, the charity is able to reach areas which are restricted to international agencies. This means they reach the most marginalised communities.
  • LEAD consults with their beneficiaries to ensure that their projects are meeting the specific needs of the local communities in which they work.
  • LEAD is a new and highly committed organisation, responding quickly to needs. They are well managed and widely respected both by other development organisations in Myanmar and by the beneficiaries themselves
