Contact us about supporting M'Lop Tapang

M'Lop Tapang was founded in 2003 in Sihanoukville - Cambodia's fast expanding southern port town and tourist destination - by a small group of foreigners and locals to provide shelter and a safe place for a growing number of street children. It has since grown into an outstanding organisation, providing shelter, medical care, access to education, training, creative and recreational activities, counselling and familiy support, while also supporting community development and ensuring protection from all types of abuse.

In our experience:

  • M'Lop Tapang gives underprivileged children back their childhood and equips them with the necessary means to grow into responsible adults and positive, independent members of society.
  • They currently work with 3000 children and 900 families through nine specialized centres in Sihanoukville. Last year 1900 children enrolled in their education programmes, 100 children were reintegrated with their families, 40 gradutes able to find employment and 40 families set up in small businesses.
  • Actively educates the community and involves them in the protection of vulnerable children, while forging strong links with other organisations to leverage their work. Their weekly radio show has a 20,000 strong listenership and 240 members of the community have so far been trained in the ChildSafe Network initiative.
