Contact us about supporting WMF
Using mobile clinics and an innovative mobile surgical unit, WMF is able
to bring free medical care to remote areas and treat sick children who would
otherwise face a long journey to reach government or mission hospitals.
WMF also trains local communities in first aid so that they are better
able to care for themselves, provides anti-retrovirals to children with
HIV/AIDS who are unable to access treatment, and treats malaria. They have
provided emergency care to orphans of war in the refugee camps of the DRC,
as well as undertaken work on the prevention of HIV/ AIDS transmission between
mothers and children. Finally, the WMF implements feeding projects including
the provision of food for 1,000 vulnerable children in the DRC, each day.
Our assessment:
- WMF's local staff are skilled and provide support to approximately 31,000
sick children each year.
- WMF's work represents excellent value for money on a cost per head basis.
- WMF keeps its administration costs to an absolute minimum in order that
maximum funding can be directly channelled to project beneficiaries.
